Adiwan Aritenang is a research student with research interest in the area of regional economics and trade liberalization. Subjects that he is interested in particular are urban and regional planning, GIS, trade liberalization, and development economics.

He did my bachelor studies at Institute Teknologi Bandung in Urban and Regional Planning with a minor in Regional Planning (2000-2004). Later on he continued his academic study at The University of Melbourne in Geographic Information Technology (2006) with specific interest in spatial analysis and remote sensing application in regional studies. 

Currently he is pursuing my Doctorate research at University College London in Bartlett School of Planning (expected to graduate in 2010) as a scholar of Ministry of Communication and Technology Republic of Indonesia. His main research topic is free trade agreements and devolution in Indonesia. 

In addition to academic achievements, Adiwan is actively involved in organizations. He was first involved as Vice Chairman of International Indonesian Student Scientific Meeting, held in November 2008. Later he become the Ad hoc Secretary of Indonesia Student Society in UK (2007/2008).  Adiwan continues his involvement as the Vice President/Secretary of Indonesia Student Society in UK (2008/2009). 

Outside Indonesian student society, he is also involved in the UCL Enterprise society, UCL’s student society for entrepreneurship and start-up business (2009/2010).
